Medialess Win8.1?

Yeah I paid £25 for the upgrade when it came out... And that was still too much for Windows 8 and it was terrible and worth the same money as Linux.

I am waiting for windows 10 and then getting a key then rather than paying for a windows 8 key now.

currently on windows 7 so in no rush to upgrade

Well i bought it, got the key sent to me and am being posted a card with the key on it. It works, activates and is fine so far. Fingers crossed its all legit but at 40 quid it wont kill me if it crashes and burns.

I have been saying this for years... For £25-30 people wouldn't bat an eyelid... £75 on top of what you already pay for even a cheap pc is extortionate and doesn't surprise me that there is a huge amount of piracy of windows.

£75 for the only bit of software that you'll use every time you turn your pc on for the next few years is not really that bad is it?

Sorry, but for home use its still extortionate. Here is something to ponder... Why do they charge you £75 for a piece of software that is included with a £60 tablet???

It's not legit..

This is what you have done..

Someone else has got a Microsoft subscription. They have sold you a key that they aren't meant to re-sell.

At this point in time, it's working, but it will stop working once MS cotton on to the fact that this person is doing this with their keys.

You were warned in the thread and still went ahead with it :/

As above, waste of money, should have tormented it be just as legit or gone to one if the key sites where you can get it for sub £10 but still not legit.
Might stop tomorrow or in two years time. But it isn't a legit key.

because it's subsidized on the tablet.

what do you think about the cost of other software if you think windows is expensive?

I have no problem at all with expensive software for productivity and work environment. But for the basic os to run the system, browse the web etc can cost half the price of a cheap pc is comical.

Lets see how productive you are without an OS then :)

For something you use, every single day, £80 is nothing. If it lasts you just two years after which you throw it away, that's £3.33/month. Buy it and throw it away. Never mind potentially using it for longer, forget that. £3.33/month is nothing for such a critical bit of software.

Obviously cheaper is better though. I shall probably keep my copies for another two years so 4 years at the launch price of £25 = 52p/month. Stupidly cheap!

For a cheap pc, the own can install windows 8.1 with bing for free.
Which is how zotac now produce such cheap system.
Under is it 8" screen windows is also free.
For big computers what's it 90%+ are purchased pre built and/or commercially which will have volume license.

Yes it's annoying bit its a small portion, and those people should now to buy it at release when there's a huge discount even if they aren't going to use it.

As for win10 it looks likely they will listen and it'll be far cheaper.
