Thanks to a few posts here I'm now a Media Monkey convert :) so thanks to who ever it was that recommended it :) but I've got one gripe, when in the view where each individual album is displayed in the right hand pane it always only displays the first 7 or so songs till you press the 'lickle' down arrow. Is there any way to set it so it always display all the songs?

Hey, hope it was me that converted you i harp on enough about how good it actually it.... For some reason it is a setting but not in the menus, you have go go fooling aroun with a config file. I'm trying to remember where it is and what the option is called. I always forget becuase once its set and upgrade keeps the same setting...

Tada! Right you're looking for "ExpandAlbumsByDefault" make sure thats to 1, it's probably 0 at present. This is in the MediaMonkey.ini file, and this is found in your local appdata folder. If you're using Vista it's here: C:\Users\Alex\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey, if you're using XP the folders are named slightly different and in a different order, i can't remember off the top of my head right now though...

On the same theme (and to save opening another thread) - how do I stop mediamonkey scanning my music folder everytime I run it. It takes well over a minute to become usable. Presumably, many users will let it sit in the tray meaning it remains memory resident and thus remember whats what. But I'd prefer to just run it as required.

Tool, Options, File Monitor, Uncheck scan library at startup :)

Not quite sure what retard thought that was a good feature by default unless you only own 10 tracks...

Hmmm, seems that you need mediamonkey gold to get that option. I guess some people will register just to get access to that option. Others, like me, will unistall the bleeder with extreme prejudice.

Thats ridiculous, i didn't realise you have pay to do that =/ There is a third option :p

I'll check around though i would assum all the options can be changed in the blasted ,ediamonkey.ini file, the file monitor option should be in here :)

I assume its one of these:
RescanModifFilesOnly=1
AutomaticallyUpdateMovedFiles=0

Theyre my options and i have scanning turned off at startup, so copy that :p

Ta. But I already have those settings in place, to no avail.....

:eek:

More random hijacking: I have album art saved in folders as folder.jpg so I get thumbnails on my folders. Mediamonkey doesn't seem to recognise this and I have to right click and choose add image in the library. Can I get mediamonkey to display these images without arsing about? The options page is labyrithine.

The third way sounds good too...

;)

Glad to be of service. I just want everyone to be able to enjoy thier music as easily as i do. Check out the media monkey script forums

I personally can't go without:
AutoRateAccurate - Rates track depending on how much i play so rating become useful
ForgetCrossface - I like crossfade but it ruins albums, this recognises i'm playing a whole albums and turns disables it for that
Last.fm Node - I use this auto DJ because i find its more consistent (coded slightly differen) also the last.fm node is invaluable for making quick playlists depending on mood.
TopTracks - Quick dirty way to add 10 of an artists best tracks to my playlist without me engaging my brain over multiple albums :)
Ta. But I already have those settings in place, to no avail.....

Third way is working fine for me too.

It *should* automagically check for the folder.jpg (or any other name for that matter as long as its in the folder). Mine does. its also set to read embedded album art tags too, mine seamlessly flicks between without me knowing.

Only thing that springs to mind is, is it totally uptodate? What are your options in Library, Tags and Playlists, album are options? That shouldn't matter there i don't think but worth a check. Again this might be a "paid for feature" i don't know if...
Do Any of these other TV software have media extender like WMC.

iTunes obviously has its sharing, but not as far as i know. I've never looked into it, because i've got my music centrally accessible on the server however i want it anyway. My local music on the laptop just gets robocopied over whenever i add new music.
