mediaportal help

hello ocuk

i installed ffdshow and mediaportal yesterday afternoon and got it all working fine even in tv mode with hardly any interruption however i went to wach tv this evening and i get the error message
Please specify the ip address or host name of the master tv service

it has two options one change and the other back. back does nothing so i click change. get a box to input my ip or host name so i enter my home name click done nothing happens so i click back then click tv again. still nothing. anyone know what i should check next?

Install the version of mediaportal without the tv server?
Maybe the sql database thing you need isn't running?

i've uploaded an image of the new error i get even before i get to the original error.

this comes up during the loading phase

Do you have mysql or microsoft sql running?

Ok, try running the tv server application, and running the connection test. It might give more detail as to why it can't connect to the database.

all fixed now i think when i opened the tv server app it said that the service was not running do you want to start it now i said yes and it just worked. bit odd hope i dont have to do this everytime i want to watch tv!

Type services.msc into the run box, then find the service called sql browser (or something) and change it's start setting to automatic.
you might be able to do this from the sql application's config menu too.
Glad you got it working, i gave up on the damn thing and use the old version without the tv server
