Here is my system:

1gb corsair ddr2
8800gts

now i cant even go over 4040 troops. When i do i drop to about 10 fps.

Now i know on a system like this it just shouldnt happen as it happened on my last system which was:

x2 3800
2gb corsair
dfi lan party
7800gtx/8800gts

Did my previous advice not help ? :/

My guess would be RAM, but I will let someone else with more knowledge of the game give you more advice.

no sorry it didnt. I have updated all drivers etc etc.

Yes it may be memory, however, i havent seen one improvement over my old system, so i am not going to buy another gig (80 quid) just too find it still doesnt work.

im a bit sketchy.

i have seen on the TW forums that im not the only one.

i appreciate your help on this though.

You need to understand that this type of game is all about CPU power, which will allow you to have more men on the field depending on how powerfull it is.

This game only uses 1 CPU as well so that were the problem is really. overclock your 6600 and you will be able to have more men.

First I would check that your system is working as quick as it should be at stock settings.
Download 3Dmark06 and then do some comparing with people who have systems similar to yours.
I know 3Dmark isn't real world but it is a strarting point and atleast you can see where you stand.
I do think most people with your setup will be using 2gb of memory though.

I was thinking of getting Medieval2 myself but I don't think my 2x4800 would deliver the goods to make it a worth while experience.

Guys - this game runs perfectly well on my ultra portable laptop which consists of a t7200 2ghz core2duo and a 256mb graphics card. I have to run it with medium/low settings but the point is I can still enjoy it. So the setup you have there is just fine it just needs a tweak here and there. I would say the primary issue you have is RAM. It really helps if you throw 2gb at it, although it isnt essential.

Thanks for the info, I'm waiting though as I should be getting a better PC in the next few Months so I can whack up the graphics.

dont get me wrong i can play this game perfectly well, if armies remain under 4040, however , if i go over that , i get serious lag. And that should not happen, i have read many people saying they can get 6000 troops easy with their system which is of lower spec than mine.
