Just finished watching braveheart, love scotland and the highlands and the likes of york ect, all the past they have facinate me.
Anyways, to the point. I enjoy stuff like braveheart, gladiator and such for film watching and sometimesi ponder what it would be like to live in them times, without all the stuff we have available today. Huge castles and forts, people conquering places.

Obviously i cant live that tale so the next best thing is a computer game. a lot of years ago i used yo play a game called age of empires, im sure many of you will of heardof it. Back on microsofts zone website where you could play it online and also through msn. I used to love big ryshes pumping out over a hundred barracks at speed and rushing into the middle for massive wars trying to push forward. Id also enjoy the set time limits such as an hour build time before attack giving yourself chance to forrage and build up an empire ready for war. Those were great and something you couldny obviously do with the game AI.

obviously zone doesnt exist anymore but there used to be aprogram you could use i cant remember what it was but was around my 1.5 counterstrike period where you could find age of empire games online, although not very populated. A few years ago i found a site that duplicated zone with everything that used to be on there, although i never took much notice asi aasumed age of empires wouldnt be so populer to get a game nowadays, something id have to look into to see if it exists.

My question is, is there any other rts games that are similar to the likes of AOE and civilisation when you have to build up your castle and empire to attack whilst also foraging resources to build? Preferable online gameplay so its a challenge and not an AI that either wipes you in seconds or you spend ages building an army to wipe them in minutes. Id like something along the lines of a huge 2 hour+ fight where you struggle to win.

I know thry released aoe: online last month but looking at trailers it doesnt look very apealing. I enjoyed the first 2 age of empire scenarios

+1 for m&b warband, great game. Best interpretation of medieval warfare around.

Total war medieval 2 is a great game as well with lots of excelling mods.

If you like strategy, and history take a look at paradox's crusader kings.

Been checking a few of these out. Remeber playing rome total war i think? Didnt enjoy it due to the low fps but ill try them as i dont think i played the campeign side of it. M&b looks good and browsing youtube crusader kings 2, although i cant find much if a preview. Will take a look tomorrow when im not at work and can look at them betted. Thanks for the replys

Lobe the creeds, compleyed them all but sold my xbox now. Not aware if theyre available on pc but bonus if they are as thats the onluly contemplation i had when i sold my 360

+1 for King Arthur.

It is like total war lite, for instance the campaign map is very simple and the real time battles are objective based, capturing flags and so on.
