Just purchased these from overclockers, upgraded from the standard medusa's (not the usb ones) and noticed there is absolutely no bass in the rear speakers so everything osunds tinny in the rear.. Have tried everything to get these to work, setting the crossover, changing the bass settings and more. The best way of explaining is in Counter strike, i throw a grenade and quickly turn around to hear the explosion in the rear, instead of a boom i hear fiddly little psssshh. Now i understand that the rears should be quieter however this is not the problem it is just that there is no depth to the rear speakers. I have searched the net and found other people to have similar problem. Does anyone have a similar problem?

CMSS-3D on something like the Medusas (ie surround equipment) should only affect stereo sources like music (upmixing it), not a game in 5.1 surround sound. That's assuming you have your soundcard set to 5.1 (the correct setting for 5.1 headphones) and your game set to 5.1.

You could check the connections between soundcard and amp Lancia, but I seem to remember mine doing the same thing too, although only a little and it never bothered me. What you describe sounds a lot worse than I remember (mine are stowed away so I can't check how they sound).

I think, like many 5.1 speakers, the Medusas take the bass from the front L/R channels, not from the bass/centre wire, which is why the subwoofers aren't used on rear sounds.

I know, but I was having some sound problems and I saw on this page that Speedlink recommend having CMSS-3D off on the Medusas. I was getting weak, distorted bass and turning it off seemed to help. It might have been a coincidence but it was worth a try.

Remember this is the pro gamer edition i am talking aobut.. It does not happen on my old medusa 5.1 heaphones..
That's kind of weird, I thought there was no difference in sound between the two. It could be faulty rear speakers I suppose. Have they been like this since you got them or did they get worse over time?

I bought the Medusa SL-8790 a while back and had the same problem you describe, there was no bass in the centre and rear speakers. I tried my Audigy card and on board sound with the same result, and coincidentally I also did grenade tests in CS and America's Army which showed up the terrible sound quality.

I got in touch with Speedlink support and was told to return them to OC which I did and they were found to be faulty.

I got a replacement set and they had the exact same problem. They've also been RMA'ed and I'm waiting to hear back on them. I've asked for a refund this time around.
