A colleague has just "won" a pair in that massdrop whats in the box thing

Whilst reveiws talk of a lack of bass,

it seems to drop off a cliff at around 500Hz this can't be right can it?

even boosting lower frequencies to +12 dB produced nothing in the bottom end not even muddy noises.

Anyone have any experience? IT's so bad that on the X7 if I put the MMX300 on over it I can hear the bass through the iems. (can run both headphones at the same time on the x7)

anyway if that's what they are meant to sound like man they are a competitor for one of the worse iems i've ever used.

I don't even like bass either but I couldn't hear any of the beautiful bass from Deep purples Lazy,

It literally sounds like this on the EQ

They are not supposed to have a lot of bass but what you describe seems ridiculous.

Have you got a good seal with them? (a usual culprit)

Do they have a mic? If so have you tried them from a phone? I have problems with some IEMs and desktop amps due to the 4 connection rings of the plug.
Example: My Fidue A73s can't be plugged directly into my 3.5mm extension lead because they sound like a karaoke machine (all of the mids are scooped out), so I have to use a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adaptor, plugged into my HD650 6.3mm to 3.5mm adaptor cable and that into my 3.5mm extension - everything sounds right then. :D

Defective IEMs. Return them.

Actual frequency response of them is pretty flat across the whole board, a la:-

Also, an excerpt taken from theheadphonelist:-

"Starting at the low end, the A151 immediately takes on typical armature characteristics – speed, control, and clarity to match the best earphones in the price bracket. Bass impact is just ahead of the Head-Direct RE0 and on-par with the Sunrise Xcape."

The alternative is they're the wrong number of pin 3.5mm jack for the X7 and so sound utterly terrible, as Rids said.

ok they don't have a mic just a standard pin

It could be the seal, I'll try it on my phone with other ear pieces

ok so seal is definitely an issue

phone seems to be a marked improvement tryign the x7 again

X7 is fine with a better seal,

Well there you go panic over they aren't broken.

He's still not convinced as getting a good seal vs comfort is a hard thing to achieve still they are far from the worse thing i've ever used after fixing that issue,

You learn something every day it seams so obvious now i think about it too haha. Still better to ask on here for him than have him send them back :D

Getting a good seal is probably the most common problem with IEMs, for the simple reason that most people don't initially realise that you need one. :D

well yeah it seems so obvious and my limited experience with the spine shuddering hi's from most iem's i must have just had a good seal straight away :D

Not all IEMs have insane highs, the RHA MA750 and the Shure SE series all have quite rolled off top ends.

it's what puts me off them i don't listen to enough music on the go to warrant any proper research. I just find most of them make me blink on sharp hi notes.

i will however write both of those down should i ever need a pair ;)
