One of the best things about the internet and this board is voicing strong opinions on cars you dont own or have not even driven.

As much as it is a raison d'etre for the internet, there is nothing wrong with a little change in my opinion.

Obviously it is a little impractical to own/drive all the cars we like to voice opinions about but on the board itself, between us, we own a right collection of cars.

Hows about, for one day, we book a private peice of tarmac/concrete, get a load of willing cars/owners together, on the proviso that you bring along your car, youre free to have a play about in the other cars and theyre free to play about in yours.

the idea obviously needs a lot of refining, but the potential is endless

- want to find out if a 4 banger diesel really sounds like a tool box being thrown down the stairs when you start it up?

- want to know if an A1 really does feel like an RS6?

- does a 330d really have enough mid range torque to snap your head off backwards

- does a 330d really have the legs on an M3 because of the torques

- 306dturbo screw mod

- could you really live with a car if the leather rear seat was indeed creased

- can a k series go more than 1 hour without the head gasket being serviced

- does vtec really have negitive torque

- will PMKeates really ram any other vehicle he sees off the road

etc

I vote Curborough as it provides space, a test track that is legal and relatively safe and I can sort nosh services if needs be I'm sure. Also central to everyone and nothing to do with it being 15 mins from my house.

yes, brilliant idea. i was thinking daft things like bruntingthorpe for gods sake

love the idea of getting airfield etc for some fun, ******* to letting everyone drive my car though :p

but object of that exercise would be to work out if a Jaaaaagwar really does make you more posh/pimp the moment you get in one and start it up.

the internet myth is that you instantly become 100% more regal and 150% more attractive to the significant gender of your choice

Nice idea but falls down on the above.

the aim of the game isnt to just turn up for a hoon or a forum track day, were there to dispell internet myths about cars

- is a Passat as interesting as a mouldy potato

- is an E36 M3 really too remote and dull to drive like the road tests said

I don't think loaning out cars is a good idea, it will end in damage, fighting and knives. Actually, I like the sound of that more, I'm in.

- Is driving a Vauxhall really worse than treading in dog poo, without shoes or socks, as OCUK gospel would lead us to beleive

I doubt it would be too hard to agree between car enthusiasts that you wont do anything to the car that you woudlnt want done to your own

If you do do something evil to someone elses car, and this is judge by the mob to be a delibrate act (through intention or just stupidity) then your own car is burned by the mob

That ought to keep things in check

I like the idea of an airfield/play ground to ourselves.

I don't like the idea of a stranger thrashing my car around.

I wouldn't mind things like testing out in gear acceleration against other cars etc.

I already let the members I trust drive my cars and they let me drive theirs too, legally, on the roads. :p :D

Same.

I think the regular meets go 90% of the way towards the idea of this thread. A big variety of cars for people to experience and chat about and have a poke around. It's why I love going to meets.
Letting people loose in each other's cars on an airfield/track is likely to end in tears.

only up for it if there is a guaranteed drag race between an Evo and a DS3

I would, but I'd be too scared of the outcome.

Good idea, except for the car sharing. There are people I would let drive my car, but then again, there are also people I wouldn't like to share the same train carriage with.
