I think I may have blown my mboard on my mega pc 180.

There are 2 possible reasons.

1) I accidentally changed the bios stellings and mhz when going from a 2500 to a 3200. (have traied to reset bios)

2) There was a pop from my psu recently when I plugged the mains cable into it however everything else works it cpu fan display hard drive etc.

I have tried new memory (no good).
When i try to boot nothing comes on the monitor and there are no beeps.

Any ideas on what I can do?

(think this is the right place to post)

if you had the plug the psu lead was plugged into when you plugged it into the powersupply, you may hear a pop or crackle sound. and if everythin else works thent eh psu should be fine

it sounds like you just clocked it too high. i think your talking about the mega thingy majig that was like a media center pc with the remote etc??

socket A, NF2 board i think??

sometimes NF2 can be a bit of a pain to get it to boot up properly after a failed overclock. best thing to try would be unplug from power, reset cmos, swap cmos back over, plug power in, maybe even try holdin insert on boot up to load optimal defaults??

cheers for the advice.

I did get that crackle and everything does seem to be working 5.

Yes it is that htpc thing with the remote I was gutted when it wouldnt work.

Have tries resetting the cmos and even had the battery out for over a week and still nothing.

Cant even get the insert key to work on boot up.

Not too sure what you mean by swap cmos back over. Do you just mean move the jumper bact to its initial position?

yeah thats all i ment, turning the computer on with it in the clear position aint good :)

have you tried booting it with the bare minimum in? i.e. cpu, 1 stick of mem and nothin else?

Think I have but will give it another shot tonight.

Any idea how I can get hold of a replacement mboard for it?

these things are probs even more rare than shuttle motherboards tbh

maybe contact the manufacturer? is tehre any warranty left on it?

only other suggestion would be to buy another one complete, maybe second hand off egay or somethin??

have just emailed msi with my problem.

Switching on whilst bios is set to reset is bad? Oh dear I think I may have borked it up myself then.

edit oh and no waranty left on it.
