Megahalems??

Wondering what peoples thoughts were on the Megahalems cooler? I'm looking to upgrade from stock and have a couple of SP fans I'm not using that I can fit to it easily.

The only thing putting me off is the price! Why is the Red version so much more expensive that the others? It would however, look absolutely awesome.

I have a 450d case with G.Skill Sniper RAM, if anyone has any other suggestions. I'd be tempted by Noctua, if only the fans were a different colour!

I've got the red one. I did wonder about the cost as there seemed to be zero difference but the red one seems to be more popular. Looks ace in a red themed case. I've replaced it with a NZXT X41 at the moment just to see how it compares and its not that far off. I also bought the red Megahalems fan to go with it. Superb cooler. Comes with 3 different types of fan fixings for 120mm/140mm single and double fans. Also what I liked about it is you can adjust the position of the fan so if your RAM is a bit too high you can move the fan up a couple of positions to clear the RAM and still get superb cooling.

I think I am a going to put the X41 on my 2nd GPU and go back to using the Megahalems.
 
Right, I've taken the plunge and ordered a Megahalems. The size (height), RAM clearance, performance and looks ticked all the boxes.

Have gone with the black version, partly because of price but I reckon with my Corsair SP120 in push pull with red accents it will look mean as hell! Also have red/white light in my case so should set it off. Will post some pics when I eventually get it installed.

So you're all aware. The prolimatech 81 cooler is basically a megahalems that comes with a fan for less money.

Its a system integration SKU which means it doesn't have all the bells and whistles with retail packaging but it performs the same.

Are you sure they are the same? I was under the impression that although the dimensions are the same, whereas the Megahalem is aluminium fins the 81 is stainless steel so heat dissipation and subsequent cooling performance is not as good.

Am happy to be corrected.
 
Interesting.

Can't actually find any evidence (testing) to suggest they are similar in terms of performance, can anyone provide me with any?
