Megane Vs Golf Vs Astra Vs Integra

Wow, I'm pretty impressed with the Renault actually. I never thought it was in the same league as the Honda integra. Although the Honda came through nicely at the end, and it did start from near last on the grid.

excellent vid. didn't realise quite how good the megane was. and i laugh at the astra, so unable to put down it's power.
 
For a start, use the VXR and that 'set up' sorry 'race' would have been over b4 it had even begun!! IMHO of course ;)

I was waiting for some plank to mention the Astra..
of course you do realise it's the 5 door 200BHP turbo, it's the SRI Turbo over here.. see here http://www.technocars.com.lb/astraturbo.asp not the 240BHP VXR 3 door.. ;)

Amazing how the VX is in front of the Golfs after 5 laps.. if the Astra can't get the power down, what was the golf's excuse.. ;)
 
no it's not really amazing. the golf is a lardy family hot hatch and was never designed as a track weapon, it's not what the golf is about imo.

all the cars there are around the same bhp with the megane having most at 225.

The Astra on the vid is the soft 'warm hatch' version, for it to keep the golfs at bay shows that even a 'crappy' handling ashtray that can't get the power down, and lifeless steering, etc, etc seems to be pretty good..

Put the VXR and Focus ST in, and things would have been more inreresting, although I'd reckon it would be Integra then Megane, then ST/VXR fighting it out...

Vauxhall and Volkswagen... Im happy to know that the reason the Golf is heavier, is because it wont give like a kitkat wrapper in an accident... and that its probably rammed with "quality" goodies :)

Impressive run between the Megan and DC5...

Thats strange they both get 5 stars in there euro ncap ratings, lets face it the Golf is just fat and over priced :p

And a VW is better is it? Fords, Vauxhalls and VW's are all in the same league, mind you Ford and Vauxhall probably produce the higher quality goods.
 
So unsurprisingly the sports car beat the hot hatches :p [cynic]and the japanese car beat the europeans[/cynic]
I was cheering for the Megane the whole way through as my dad drives one :D
