MeganeX superlight - 4k microOLED panel headset

I know Seb often says what he tests is the 'best yet' but maybe this vr hmd actually is, the specs on this look amazing so I can believe him. Out of my price range @ $1899 but if u have that sort of money. I imagine the forthcoming Pimax Crystal Super (I think it's called) also with 4k displays etc will have amazing visuals but look at its form factor compared to this. Be interesting to see if MeganeX can manufacture this without QC issues and on time.

It does look good, but I'd be concerned about GPU trying to run those panels. You'll certainly have to lower the resolution by a fair margin to hit 90fps. Just hope the lenses are decent. Think I'd take this over the pimax, I'm not a fan of aspherics myself even though they are brighter.
Probably a pass from me at this point, but I do like the fact you can remove the rubber face padding to let your eyes breathe.

no eye tracking though to help with the resolution bump and yet again poor horizontal FoV, basically where they have landed is a higher resolution Bigscreen Beyond imho. They need to be talking to HyperVision who have prototyped 180 hFoV and 130 vFoV

Yep, feels like VR headsets are not making the obvious designs they need to do. They're pushing too hard in some directions (like resolution, that no GPU will be able to run) and not enough in others. I've said before on here, all I want is a 'PSVR2' (I've got one now for PC) with all its features active for PC, with a better micro OLED higher res panel but not silly high res, better lenses and slightly bigger FOV.

It would be nice if Sony did a psvr2 Pro with those upgrades

Pancake lenses need a lot of light which is why OLED headsets stick with Fresnels.

Personally I'd like a Quest Pro 2 with the pro features like eye tracking, Q3 innards and higher resolution QLED displays but with way more dimming zones.

That ain't going to happen though, at least not from Meta.

My problem is I'm fully in the "seen OLED, can't go back" camp now and have been for years. PC screens, TVs, Steam Deck, and now my VR headset - all OLED.

Anyone got any specifics on the brightness levels of various headsets at the moment? They never put the Nits ratings in any specs I see. After seeing the brightness of the PSVR2 it's a huge factor for me now, along with the OLED blacks. I'd estimate the PSVR2 panel is at least twice as bright as my Reverb G2.
How much do pancake lenses sap the brightness by vs Fresnel?

You'd be surprised how good a QLED display is with local dimming. None of the mura problems of OLED, very bright, and awesome colours. The biggest issues is with not enough dimming zones you do get halos around bright objects.
It seems that most of the high end headsets with OLED or Mini LED displays and pancake lenses aren't that bright.

more a note, it requires base stations. which is an interest choice. good to see headsets still produced for PCVR
i wonder how it might compare to bigscreen beyound which seems to be in the same vain, in real world, i.e. god rays

the company does some interesting products
