Meghalems - Included thermal Paste?

AS5 wins my vote. I had average experiences with bundled thermal compounds in the past, but not this one in particular. They tend to dry quicker and perform by a few degrees poorer.

Worked pretty well for me. Replaced it with MX3 and dropped a few degrees.
Just make sure not to use too much, you really dont need much.

When i had nothing else i used the chill factor stuff that came with my TRUE, done a grand job. Since got some mx3 which should last me a good while.

the best one ive ever used has to be zalman super grease, seriously, comes with a brush, really easy to apply.

But can you apply it evenly and without air pockets? I always still poured a little blob in the middle and let the pressure of the heatsink flatten it out.
Not bad paste though.

well i managed to, the brush has like "loads" of bristles for even application so you would be pretty rubbish not to be able to apply it properly.

I suppose it depends on the thermal paste, some are more viscous and trying to spread them with a brush would just make a horrendous mess. Those that aren't as "solid" would spread much more easily.

I am a fan of applying a blob and letting itself spread out under the pressure of the heatsink myself, far less hassle and less risk of air bubbles :).

hy all i know this is a kindaold thread but want to get some views on current I7 930 thermal paste application methods, persnaly only fitted cpu cooler 3 times. not had trouble with temps but ive used lots of paste each time, literaly a lot of paste.

i know these things run hot with big overclocks and wud like some sound advice on what method to use for best results with the Megahalems Rev.B heatsink that came with my 4.2ghz bundle.

cheers
