Hi

I've recently been given two bottles of Meguiars products.
They are:

'Deep Crystal System
Paint Cleaner'

and

'Deep Crystal System
Carnauba Wax'

The Paint cleaner is the step 1 product and the carnauba wax is the 3rd step.
Both the bottles are dark red in colour so are probably from the same range.

I want to give my car a good wash over the weekend as well as polish and wax it.
Can i use the Megs products or would i need to buy the step 2?

At the moment i use another cheaper wax for my car but have run out of polish.
Could i use the paint cleaner in place of the polish and the carnauba wax to seal to paint?

Is it 100% necessary to use the Megs products in stages or is it just for best results?

Thanks

if the paint is bad i'd use the 3 stage.

The paint cleaner may be a little abrasive, so you might be better off getting a bottle of the stage 2 polish if you're just planning on doing one polish then waxing.

Meguiars is good. The three step is basically a total paint protection. the deep cleaner lifts out ingrained dirt, the second step is a polish to give a deep shine and the 3rd step is a wax to help protect your paint from dirt and such.

I recommend the FULL three step if it hasn't been done before. I also recommend a clay for your bumpers and bonnet, along with the sides and windscreen.

you'll get a wonderful reflective shine if done correctly. You can also use scratch X to remove deep scratches as well...

But check to ensure you can use these products on your paint. Most newer cars are perfectly fine, as these products are acrylic clear coat safe.

Edit, be careful. step one and two removes paint. Step one more then step 2.

The Quick clay is nothing short of fantastic, i really love Meguiars products hope its a nice weekend i need to spend a few hours doing mine :)

The new NXT Tech Wax is one of the best priced and best performing products I've used. The Gold Class Polish is also pretty good.

Thanks for your replies.

I've been looking around on the internet and have found that for the full 3 step paint protection i'll need to buy a bottle of 'Deep Cyrstal System Polish'. That'll cost about £8-9.

To be totally honest i'm not the type of person to spend hours cleaning my car.
I did however spend about 3 hours cleaning it the other week but within days it was looking a bit dirty.
I'll probably do the full 3 step programme in the summer on a nice hot day but at the moment the weather is a bit hit and miss so i'll leave it for the time being.

Has anyone tried applying these products by machine? I've heard nothing but good words said about the Porter Cable polisher. Only available by US import though.
