Hey Guys erm i got a 865 pearl board which processor *** i have i cant find the box i know am been stupid been a long day n night so any help would be great i got a 3ghz cpu at the moment but i want a new faster processor with out having to upgrade my mother board n so on or if not i got £200 to spend on mobo and processor can u recomend anything thanks

Isnt the 865 pearl the chipset not the board? I'm not really up on intel but it rings a bell

I have no idea about the 865 pearl to be honest. But if you run a program called sisoftware Sandra Lite It should tell you the maximum size processor your board can use.

It should also tell you the make of your board too which will be handy....

i assume you can use all S478 cpu's in it so the max would be a 3.4

Ah, isnt there an 865 pearl chipset used on many different boards? trust me to try complicate things when the answer is blatant

I'd stick with what you have just now to be honest Infection, unless you plan to go down the pcie route anytime soon.

lol... your maybe thinkning the chipset which is 865PE

i would stay the same too, as you wont get much performance increase for the £200

i was going to say try overclocking but the intel boards are not overclocker friendly iirc.
