Hi all.

I’m fed up of Dyson cordless cleaners loosing nearly all of their suction.

I need a Miele vacuum cleaner that’s suitable for hard floors, carpets and picking up pet hairs.

Any recommendations?

Many thanks.

M.

I have the c1 classic junior and it’s awesome, so much suction power in a small unit, you have to open the valve in order to hoover carpet otherwise it doesn’t move!

I have the blue non cat and dog but bought the spinning head for it and it cleans up well - The standard head can be used for floor or carpet -just flick the lever down

I also buy the bags from Ebay -they seem to be as good as Miele ones but cheaper and also come with the filters.

The spinning brush head is a must for carpets. You can also get a smaller turbo brush for doing carpeted stairs and rugs etc. They are great vacuums, had mine for 8+ years now and still going strong. The bags seem to last ages and then its just a case of chucking the bag in the bin, not having to mess about poking out all the hair and dust with a stick like i have to with my mums Dyson. You can get 3rd party hepa filters and bags from ebay/amazon and they seem to be just as good, but at a fraction of the price.

Miele are the best in my experience. We had the pet one and it has taken a battering and still working. We have recently bought a compact one and that is just as good.

Wanted to know how much these weigh in comparison to our Henry (since Mum will be lugging it up and down the stairs, daily - she's somewhat obsessive about vacuuming). Ask Bing "how much does a Henry weigh". Being tells me "Thierry Henry weighs 83kg". Thanks, Bing.

In case anyone wonders why on Earth I'd be using Bing - I'm trying out the new Edge(ium) Beta browser.

Bing really is ****.

Google says a Henry is 6.6kg, this Meile is 7.2 kg. OK, not the end of the world.

have they modified the power of these/miele, for compliance with new eu standards ?

since, it seems the bosch equivalent cyclinder pet ones, have, in comparison, very little availibility now, I have the bosch and build quality is similar.

If I was paying ~£300 now, I'd consider uprights instead for better carpet cleaning than the (vacuum powered) spinning brushes - sebo - see earlier threads.

edit : miele can't be as powerful as they used to be -

There are just six days to go before new EU vacuum cleaner regulations come into force, banning the sale of vacuum cleaners with motors more powerful than 900W. So do you need to buy a new vacuum cleaner this weekend?

The new vacuum cleaners energy label rules will reduce the maximum wattage from 1,600W to 900W for any vacuum cleaner manufactured or sold in the EU.

I've got the CX1 Cat and Dog and it's brilliant.

Recently had it stop and self clean after hoovering a load of saw dust but that didn't sort it, I didn't even realise it has a smaller 'fine dust' filter on top of the regular filter till I read the manual.

Whipped it apart, cleaned the cone filter, put it all back together and away it goes away - Everything is just so well thought out and engineered.

It's also worth saying... Get your vacuums serviced occasionally. For £29 or thereabouts they will give it a whole new lease of life.
