My computer had been constantly crashing and decided to give memtest a go finally, and unfortunately about 40% through it was throwing up errors. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on the errors it was displaying?

(frequent blue screens of memory_management, win2k.sys etc).

Looking at the screen shot it seems your running your ram faster than 533 (1066) your running at 833 (1666).

Double check the BIOS for the ram multiplier settings.

I've just tried the ram independantly and it seems as though they are working fine.

I've just looked at the ram inside and it states:

PC2 8500 OCZ platinum edition 5-5-5 @2.2V (2x2GB)

So should I check/change the voltage and timings? If so what to?

thanks for the help.

You will need to check the ram multiplier / ratio and adjust to 533 (1066) and check the voltage and timings and adjust to what the sticker is stamped, so increase the voltage to 2.2v (dram) this may show up as red but don't worry, and setup the timings manually too.

Re-run mem test and see how you get on :)

Thanks for that :). No errors so far.

The settings on the memtest are now

Ram: 600mhz (DDR1200). Is this still too fast?

Ram timings are 5-5-18.

Had a bit of trouble configuring it in the bios screen as not everything is straightforward:

edit: Not really sure why it says 2Ghz when my PC is 3ghz (as seen in windows rating as well).

Something strange happening in your BIOS with the cpu speed and multiplier.

What board and cpu are you using,
you might need to reset the BIOS and start again, this should hopefully puy your cpu multiplier back to normal.

At the moment you memory speed is still high.

Do you have an idea what memory speed I should set it to?

The motherboard is a: Gigabyte P31-DS3L version F9 (Bios)
