Hi there, Im new to this building your own PC lark and need some advice
my new mobo will take 16gb ddr3, but i only intend to get 8gb to start with whats the best way to go? (4x2gb or 2x4gb) or dont it matter.

4gb is more than most people need these days. 8gb can actually slow things down at times apparantly.

Just go for 2x2gb, then if you see it getting filled regularly, just add another 2x2gb.

unless you have a specific reason, 8gb is not worth it at the moment, so a 2x2gig set would more than suffice.

However, if you're hellbent on going 8gb, then 4x2gb, as 4gb modules are still relatively new, and insanely expensive (and "normal" ram is not exactly cheap lately).
