All this talk of SETI Classic, then I go extricate an old case and find an almost complete PC inside. Plug in power and it boots. The event log says it last had power on June 20th 2004. 
This might be why it's been unused for so long...
Katmai was released in 1999 and as shown used 250nm. Now we're just starting on 45nm. Just imagine how big/heat producing today's processors would be at 250nm
Anyway, once I'd sorted out some keyboard issues so I could use it, this revealed itself...
