Hi all,

I plan on buying a i5 2500k and z68 medium range motherboard. I will prob over clock it but only a little not to extreme. I want 8Gb of ram for it but was wondering on what speed to go for and how much 1 point in timeings really matters. was looking at 1600MHz bout would i see a difference with 1866MHz?

I will be mainly gaming with the PC.. thx for your help

Stick with 1600mhz, anything higher offers very little on the Sandybridge setup.

What cpu cooler are you looking at using?

Not sure yet..tempted by a h60 but any recommendations on a normal heatsink?

If your considering spending that amount of money and clocking the CPU then you may want to consider the Silver Arrow. Superior cooling and great bang for buck for a quality air cooler.

But if you want to spend less money then the Gelid at £25 is a great mid-range performer.

As RJC has already mentioned you will need low profile memory for larger CPU coolers as they usually need to fit under the HS.

would ppl recommend a water cooling block over a normal heatsink?

Not really for moderate overclocks.

If you want chilly running with relative silence then a decent case with a quality air cooler will do the job - coupled with a quality/quiet PSU and pwm fans or controller.

Unless you just fancy going underwater which is a totally different matter.
