How important is the quantity of memory for video editing?

Is there likely to be much difference between 2gb, 4gb and 8gb in Vista?

Your thoughts appreciated.

The more ram the better especially with vista that idles at just under a gig when doing

nothing.

So would 4gb be a good bet or stretch to 8gb (seeing as ram is so cheap right now i dont mind splashing the cash on that if it will make a difference).
