I have just got a i5 2500k, Z68XP-UD3P motherboard and 2x4gb HyperX Genesis Grey Ram.
Now it says ram is 1600hz 1.5-1.65v, so chose this for that reason, believing that I could run at 1600hz at 1.5v and any further over clocking could reach up to 1.65v to achieve this.
However the motherboard defaults this at 1333hz 9-9-9-24 @1.5v it does have an XMP setting that takes it to 1600hz 9-9-9-27 @1.65v
Now reading, seems to say that for sandybridge I should be running close to 1.5v with a maximum of 1.575 so 1.65v would thereof be high.
I see lots of the gaming over clocked bundles by Overclockers using the same ram as I selected (the other reason why I chose this and also thought it must be running at 1.5v 1600hz if they are too using it)
So my question is.............
Which settling should I use for this ram?
Is 1.65v ok for my 2500k CPU?
Would I be better of swapping the Kingston Ram for something that def runs at 1600hz @1.5v and if so which would be best?
If I needed to swap this memory for other, would I then have to pay postage costs each way for the swap as I just assumed if Overclockers where using this memory then it must be ok!?
If it is ok, if anyone from Overclockers could confirm to me what timings and volts to run the Kingston's at that would be brill.
Thanks and hope someone can help and advise as I have been googling a few days now and too much conflicting info, best to get from the people in the know on here!
