Hi, I have a problem with either my memory card reader or windows and not quite sure which, so wondering if anyone here can help me out.

I have the following Akasa card reader and am running Windows 7 x64 -

http://www.akasa.com.tw/update.php?...der/Hub&type_sub=Card Reader&model=AK-ICR-01B

I recently bought an 8gb micro SDHC card for my HTC Magic. After putting in it in and connect it to the USB port on the reader, if I try to transfer files, it just unmounts itself. If small files it transfers one or two before doing but then happens anyway. I tried connecting it to another USB port on the front panel and the same problem happened. Also, on mounting it tells me that 'there is a problem with this device' and clicking 'fix this problem' also automatically unmounts it.

After this, I tried putting the card into an SD adaptor and putting the card directly into the reader. However, the reader did not pick up the card at all. It picks up another 512mb card and a 1gb card but just doesn't recognise the 8gb one.

At this point I was thinking that the card itself is faulty, so I tried it out on my netbook running win xp 32 bit. On that, it runs perfectly. Files transfer without any issue and the reader picks it up without any errors and it works perfectly. After some googling, I tried connecting the phone to the back USB port on my desktop. Once connected here, it unmounts if I click 'fix this problem' but if I ignore it, I can transfer files without any issues what so ever.

Very confused as to where exactly the problem is and the best I can tell is that it is with windows, though i'm not sure.

Anyone have any ideas?

there may be a compatibility issue with windows 7. check akasas website for new drivers. It may be that windows 7 puts a memory limmit on it like windows vista did on how much RAM the computer could use.

Id try getting in contact with akasa as they will be in the right place to help the most.
