so I am currently specing a new C2D rig and have decided to go for the following memory: OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)

but then I noticed that I could get 2 lots of G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NQ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit for about £20 more.

I know 4GB is overkill and I will be happy with 2GB but will the higher rated ram be better in the long run.

Plus I intend to use this with a E6600 and an Asus P5N32-E sli board.

I'm just checking compatability before I start to purchase my components.

cheers in advance

Money is better spent in 4Gb tbh. or spend a little more on CAS4 sticks.

Higher rated RAM are overkill even when used with E6600, it's only needed if you plan to run it synchronised with stupidly high fsb.

If you run it at stock then even a highly rated RAM will default to DDR2 533 speed to match the FSB without a divider.
