guys i have about £200-250 for my new ram and after reading up here at OCUK i've narrowed my choices for my 2GB dual channel kit down to 3 options, these are
Crucial 10th Anniversary 667mhz 3-3-3-12 ~£200
team xtreem 800mhz 4-4-4-10 ~£205
team xtreem 1000mhz 5-5-5-15 ~£240
as i said in the title my CPU is (unfortunately not a C2D
) an AM2 athlon64 5200+ and i'm using a gigabyte GA_M59SLi-S5 motherboard, my problem is deciding which memory to run.
the crucial 10th anni kits seem to be clocking quite well overall but some of them seem not to, and i'm worried i'll get stuck with 2 sticks that wont even run 800mhz which would cripple my system. also it seems that to run the anni's at 800mhz and up you need to slacken the timings to 4-4-4-12 which brings us to where the 800mhz team xtreem kit is @ stock so the team xtreems look better at those speeds. then we have the 1000mhz team kit for only about £40 more and if i used that i'm almost guaranteed that the ram wont hold back my overclocks but the timings seem pretty slack and i think this would slow the system compared to the tighter timings on the 800mhz, but to be honest i'm more
than when i started lol.
so my question is which of the 3 listed kits would you buy if it were your build? (and no "i wouldn't be building an AMD system" replies either lol)
