Since im moving to C2D, i have been searching for some budget 2GB kit ram for the E4300. I found these two from Corsair at around the same price, but is the XMS2 worth the extra £4?

Corsair 2GB Value Select PC5300

and

Corsair XMS2-5400C4

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I could get the Gigabyte DS3 motherboard+Corsair Value Select 2GB kit for £168 including P&P. Or the DS3+Corsair XMS2 2GB Kit for £178 including P&P. What is the better option? Also i will be overclocking the E4300 to get to as near 3GHz as possible.

Do you realise that you can get a decent 2Gb DDR2 800 PC6400 kit for the same price as that XMS or cheaper?? The Geil 2Gb PC6400C5 for example only costs £99 and will allow OC of upto 3.6Ghz for your E4300 without pushing the RAM.

*cough* not actually buying from OcUK. XMS2 is £79 somewhere else aswell as the value select *cough* :)

Then the XMS2 with the heatspreader is probably worth that little extra when it comes to overclocking over DDR2 667. Both kit will allow OC of upto 3Ghz. :)

:p I know its blasphemous. Thanks for the info. Even though there probably isn't much of a performance difference between the two. The XMS2 has 4-4-4-12 timings, whereas the Value Select has 5-5-5-15. Does that improve performance much since the timings are lower? If anything the XMS2 will look better cause of the heatspreaders :)
