I haven't built a computer for literally 20 years and it's not got easier since then!

I have specced a MSI B550i MPG Gaming Edge Max Wifi and a Ryzen 9 5900X - so far so good.

I would like 2x32GB = 64GB RAM as in my current work I find I am RAM-bound and I want that problem to go away.

It turns out it's not obvious what set to get. The Mobo memory support page is not particularly helpful. It doesn't show any 64GB options far as I can see, despite the board being able to support this.

A well known parts aggregator site suggested "Patriot Viper Steel 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory" but then I read elsewhere in this forum that compatibility is not guaranteed with Ryzen for this brand at 3600MHz. That led me to look at the G.Skill & Corsair configurators for the above combination of mobo an CPU to find what sets they suggest. G.Skill has sets at 3600MHz and 3800MHz at 18-22-22-42 but it seems harder to get these kits in the UK. Corsair offers only 3200Mhz kits at 16-20-20-38, but they seem to offer direct purchase in the UK and have some stock.

I have a tenuous grasp on what these numbers mean...

I don't mind spending a bit extra for good performance and stability - this is a work machine - but I also don't want to accidentally buy something that is not compatibile.

Assume that I want to buy from Corsair: Given that the Cosair 3200MHz kits seem to be in stock, should I just go for that? Or could I ignore their compatibilty configurator and get a 3600MHz stick from them and get better performance? Or am I missing something obvious?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
