Hi community,

I have a question i cannot seem to find an answer for any where, no one seems to have theorized the situation I am in.

I have purchased a g4560, and a z270 board, as i am creating a future upgrade path, i intend to swap the cpu for an i5 in a few months, however i nearly pulled the trigger on 2666mhz ram without giving too much thought to compatibility at which point i thought, let's just check what the processor supports, and intel states speeds up to 2400mhz ram. So, will I have issue with trying to use this ram, (Corsair vengeance lpx)?

my theory is that the ram should just default to its stock speed as all the speeds of the ram kits are just x.m.p profiles any way, and that i could just simply run this ram at 2133mhz or overclock it manually to 2400mhz if i was that bothered, then when i upgrade my cpu i can then use the xmp profile at 2666mhz.
I read some where that any speed over 2400mhz sets the bclk to above ~100 and for that reason the ram is not supported above 2400mhz on the g4560.

Can anybody shed some more light on this or simply say that what i believe should be correct?

thanks for the help in advance.

Scott
