memory compatibility with C2D 6400

Hiya

I want to get my boyfriend 4gb of memory for his birthday but am not sure what will be compatible with his processer.

He has a core 2 duo 6400. He said something about memory with 8500 clock frequency if that makes any sense to anyone!

Would there be much difference between 8000 and 8500 clock freq?

DDR2 or DDR3? I would guess its ddr2 but best be sure.

Is he planning to overclock the memory? If not these OCUKvalue brand would be ok for the money £82.22 for 4g but if he wants to overclock and you have the extra cah to spare the tracers are on offer and would be £129.22 for 4g, these are ddr2 so just make sure it's compatible with his motherboard and he's one lucky man.

Sorry, have only just managed to catch up with this thread.

Yes, he would be overclocking (can't just be happy with it as it is!). I guess it's DDR2 as that's what he has currently and the ones he has been looking at are DDR2.

Is there much difference between 8000 anf 8500 clock?
