Afternoon guys,

Looking at getting an Asus P5k Premium over the Abit IP35 due to wanting the wireless integrated. Only thing is, I can't seem to locate a memory compatibility chart on the Asus webby or on the net anywhere. The RAM I was looking at was

Click Me

It should be fine i'm assuming running a 2180 OCd to around 3 - 3.2ghz and its only 2 sticks so I have the flexibility to add some more later. I was looking at the GeIL stuff but 4 gig of this is a tenner cheaper. I don't care about those fancy heat spreaders unless anybody has other recommendations? Anybody have any info on whether there's any issues running this in the board?

Cheers

Well, I've just ordered that mobo and that RAM, not exactly that ram but the stuff that is pre-tested to 1000mhz by OCZ (ocuk sell it) for £81 delivered.

Its more than suitable for the board (according to some dude called "Tony" who works for OCZ) but you have to change the Tref to a higher value than the P5K Premium supports....

HOWEVER...he has released a program that flashes the SPD on the memory modules to automatically "force" the Tref needed for 1000mhz and beyond.

So you just set the tref to "auto" in the bios and the board will use that the value from the SPD.

I've seen posts with people running at 1050-1100mhz with this ram\mobo combo...

So nothing to worry about given the price I'd say?

If you do a search on google you should be able to track him down apparently you have to register on the ocz forum and pm him for the program\utility to do it.

Alternatively you could just use "memset" provided you can get into windows, but thats not really practical and a "hard" solution is obviously preferred.
