Hi there,

I have a Asus IPIBL-LB mobo which has 1gb of RAM

I bought a 1 x 2gb module of 240pin PC2 6400 800mhz RAM stick

I inserted it today in a slot and totally removed the 1gb of RAM stick

When I restarted the PC it blue screened on me and gave me the IRQL MEMORY LESS THEN ERROR message

So i tried it in different slots and all of which resulted in the BSOD with the above error message.

I then got fed and put the old 1gb RAM module back in the PC and it works fine.

So whats up??? is it the wrong type of memory? as the mobo manual states it supports this memory, please confirm?

Or could it be a faulty RAM module?

Please help

Thanks in advance..

Try running men-test just in case you have a faulty memory module. (Runs off a bootable cd)
Also does the voltage require adjustment in the BIOS, voltage and timing on side of memory module.

will do however does anyone know if that mobo accepts that RAM?

I am pretty sure YES, but just wanna overcome the obvious first...

Whats the make of the memory?

Looking around the web the board supports 800mhz ram, but i can't find this board on the Asus website.

Edit: Have you tried a CMOS reset.

no havent tried a CMOS reset

its some cheap memory from a well known cheap memory site

its a cheapy ASUS board they put into a HP desktop I believe

thanks for all your help

despite not having another machine to test it on, after extensive research and despite not running memtest I spoke to the place where I purchased it from and they said they would replace it.

They went over what machine I had and the memory I have at the moment and it all points to their stick being faulty.

Just wanted to update and say thanks for all your replies..
