I was going to buy my self a 2GB Team Xtreme 800 Mhz 3-3-3-8 kit. But i've been reading about 64bit vista taking advantage of 4GB of RAM, and I can't buy 4GB of Team Xtreme, to expensive :p

I want to know, should I get;

2GB Team Xtreme 800 Mhz / 3-3-3-8 = http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-002-TG

OR

2GB GeIL 800 Mhz / 4-4-4-12 (x2, 4GB all together ) = http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL

I will be using Vista 64 bit, and playing the new upcoming games.

I should be able to get the overclock I want on my CPU with 4GB, and would I evan notice a preformance difference in the timmings... probably not?

What do you think?

I am also looking at doing exactly what you are...however you do get very mixed reactions about this 4Gb in Vista thing and 4 sticks of memory too.

Personally I think i am going to get 2Gb Crucial 10th Anni and a 2Gb USB drive for Readyboost and see how it goes....

Have the money for 4Gb but with the issues that people are mentioning with 4 sticks I am a little reluctant to say the least.

I would be very interested in what you decide.

Hi m8

Well...

There are two main areas about 4 sticks that i have noticed.

a. You cannot overclock as far due to timings
b. some DDR2 (maybe more) boards actually decrease in bus speed with 4 sticks in.

I can't say im an expert but thats what i have gathered...thats why im thinking about buying the 2Gb and a 2Gb usb drive for Readyboost and wait until the 2Gb sticks come down..
:D

Ah I see! :p

You said your waiting till the 2GB sticks come down... do they actually exist yet? When can we expect to see 2GB sticks here at OcUK? :D
