memory discrepancy

i am running 2x512 sticks of ddr. 1 stick is from and old build which is twinmos branded the new one is OCz.

Now when the computer posts it says dual channel 128bit and when i run cpuz it recognises 2 sticks but if i right click MY COMPUTER and select PROPERTIES it only shows 512.

Also if i ctrl alt del and select performance it also shows physical memory total as 523752.

I am using slot 1 and 2 on a winfast (foxconn) NF4SK8AA board

just looked on a site called memoryx

it has a test program on it and it came back with a result showing that i have 2x 256ram in my slot 1 and 2.

Why is my 512 sticks being detected as 256?
