I seem to recall from my NForce based Opteron system that you didn't need uber fast memory to get a decent overclock; you could simply set the memory speed independently.
Is this the case on modern C2D/C2Q Nforce boards?
Intel based boards don't seem to be as flexible and instead emply a divider. Is this the case on all Intel boards?
And what about AMD based boards? Do they use an independent memory speed or do they use a divider?
