memory foam - any tried it?

looking into getting a new bed and memory foam seems to be on about half that is on sale in the shop i went to and although very comfortable, im a little unsure on it as i feel like it will be one of those nice at first but actually wehn trying to sleep it's too different getting used to it and also just isn't acutally that comfy.

wondering if anyone has actually got a bed with memory foam and can offer me some advice.

also while i got this thread open, can anyone reccomend a place to buy beds online. i have looked but all are very similiar and provide a load of info i don't really understand.

Memory foam is nice as a top layer - but I'd advise going for a pocket-sprung mattress over a fully foam one.

Mine's an IKEA jobbie (tend to be thinner than standard UK mattresses) with a memory foam top layer, which would be fine if sprung, but it's all foam and as such I seem to have created a bit of a hollow in the middle of it.

It comes back up again after a while if I manage to keep myself to either side of the bed rather than in the middle - but still - bit of a pain. Is very comfortable though

I went to look at beds too, and the memory foam seemed really comfortable, asked the sales guy is it easy enough like a normal mattress to have sex on, looked at me like I just killed his children.

Probably will get it as I detest springs, but others were barley noticeable - ooo I don't know

Just doesn't have the rebound you need.

I've tried one and I don't like it - there's no bounce.

well i looked at one that had a normal matress and then about 3 inchs thick of memory foam at the top, comfy but wasn't sure.

Im finding it extra hard as i have a round bed from ikea which is the most comfiest bed i have ever come across and now i have been spoiled with one of the best beds in the world i don't think i could go to having anything worse.

Had one and got rid after 2 weeks due to giving me a bad back - now using a good old firm sprung and its loads better.

still got the memory foam pillows though.

a lot of folks complain of feeling hot on memory foam

we have a Dorlux pocket sprung bed ( 2000 springs ) and wouldn't change it for anything

I have one, pure memory foam... it has a summer and winter side. We got a new 13.5 Tog duvet at the same time and it is really a little hot!

Having tested lots would probably recomend a sprung mattress with memory foam on top if you have the cash. For our budget ~£250 the memory foam one is head and shoulders over the cheaper sprung ones. IMO obviously.

I got a 3inch memory foam topper for £70, turns even the worst mattress into something sleepable

Have it on a decent mattress now and sleeping on it is a dream.

The only downside is the lack of bounce/firm resistance, which isn't and issue when sleeping, but can make other bed-based activities (wink, wink) considerably more tiring

I got a one a few years back and is by far the best bed I have ever slept on. It's a memory foam partnered with 2000 pocket springs and good god it's cozy!! Best investment ever. Plus its great for sex me and the g/f found.

Sadly now though I had to leave it in England and my dad is 'borrowing' it

What are they like for heat? for sweat? for being able to move on them?

I think i'd stick to a normal mattress as they're comfy enough.
