As topic really if anyone could shed some light I have no idea about memory and cas etc. I am buying my kit tomorrow, going to the store so can take advantage of some of the opening sales. There are two types of memory on their offers, geil black dragon 16gig and 8gig of teamgroup elite, both i think have cas timings 11 11 11 11 something is this slow?

On most spec threads in general the corsair xms seems to be in the lists not sure if thats because its great or cheap? Would i be better off with that over the geil/teamgroup ones that are on offer?

Will be using the stock i5 cooler for now so dont think low profile matters.

Thankyou

There isn't a great deal of difference between what RAM you go for on an intel system. Just make sure you have enough, and get the cheapest you can find, preferably from a well known and reputable manufacturer.

Get some Corsair XMS3 it's cheap and has good timings. Also I have found Corsair to be very reliable.

I have some Corsair XM3 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 I bought year and a half ago, haven't overclocked it but works get at it's specified timings and speed. Even undervolts to 1.5V (I have the 1.65V version).

I wouldn't say it's great or cheap, I would say that it is straight forward and does what you would want it to.

I have Kingston HyperX with my 3570K. It doesn't really make a difference just make sure you get enough and preferably 1600mhz :)
