When I last built a PC (in January 2015) I was pretty sure what memory I needed.

Now I have no idea, and would appreciate some guidance!

I'm going AMD this time, and I'm looking at something like a Ryzen 5 3600XT on (maybe?) a B550 board, but when I look at DDR4 there's such a plethora of speeds that I don't know where to start.

I'm not planning on any hardcore overlocking, but I would like to get something half decent that won't cause me any problems.

Any suggestions?

3200mhz or 3600mhz is ideal speed for ryzen the more expensive ram have tighter timings which a minimal difference in performance.

I went though a thread on the difference between 3200 and 3600 in 2x8gb and 4x8gb. The difference was 2% at most between 3200 and 3600. Save your money.
