I've got a gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 mobo from ~2012 (running the good old sandy bridge i5 2500K that just wont die)

i want to put in a bit more ram, and i'm wondering what i should get.

ATM i have 2 x 4GB sticks of corsair "1600Mhz 9-9-9-24" installed... i remember my brother saying something about them being a matched pair... they say 8GB on each stick, but one is only 4GB in reality.

i'd like to go to at least 16 GB, 32 might be pushing it cost wise (as i'm about to buy a new laptop soon... and this pc will get a new MB and processor towards the end of the year... and hence will need newer memory too)

What should i go for? i imagine i should replace my current memory? or get another pair of 8Gb sticks to compliment the ones i have... but then i'd need them to match and all that.

also, always wondered, there's 4 memory slots, 2 white, 2 blue, what's the difference, if any?

brilliant, cheers,

i was wondering if the blue and white slots were anything like the blue and white sata ports, where one is double the speed of the other.

i bought another 2 sticks of the same memory i have now.. £24 a stick, so not a bank breaker,
