I was going to buy a E6600 and just not bother clocking it but I've decided to save some money and try clocking the E6300 instead.
I've heard the P5B board is the one to have but what 2Gb memory would be be suited for it in the £150 price bracket?

I'm using plain old Corsair Value RAM (DDR2 667Mhz), and it runs happily at 800Mhz.

I've had six sticks over the last year, and they've all run at this speed with just a bit more voltage (0.1v).

Running at 800Mhz with a 400FSB, it's good for 2.8Ghz on an E6300. It will run even higher on my system, but couldn't say it would on all setups.

Failing that, the Geil 800Mhz stuff (MY-058-GL) from the front page is around £170 delivered if you can stretch your budget, and comes highly recommended.

Depends on how far you're planning to go really. The Value RAM will do an easy 700Mhz+ giving you around a 2.5Ghz OC on that E6300, which gives you a heck of a quick chip, with a 22 sec Super PI time?

Some of the best is the Gskill HZ 6400 stuff. using that, got my E6300 clocked to a lovely 3GHz, and need to fiddle with more settings, but should be able to take it higher quite easily.

dont bother with Geil, my 2gb wont overclock at all. I am not sure if its the board or the Geil needing 2.1v, which is the p5b's maximum. In fact the Geil doesn't even get its rated 4-4-4-12 @800, 4-4-4-13 is the best I can manage.

Hopefully Asus will release a new bios which might solve this, soon
