Hello,

I have purchased an Asus M4A785TD-V Evo motherboard for my new build along with a Phenom II X2 550 and I am clueless about which memory to buy.

I would appreciate some good value for money suggestions as this is a budget rig.

Looking for 4GB.

Thanks.

Thanks for the responses.

How exactly do you find out which memory is compatible with a motherboard? All the details I can find on mine is DDR3 dual channel supporting 1800 oc, 1600 oc and 1333 Mhz.

Does this mean I should be looking to purchase 2x2GB 1333 Mhz and overclock it or can I just buy 1600 Mhz?

I believe the "OC" thing means that the CPU needs to be overclocked for the memory to be able to operate at this speed. If you want to run the memory at 1600MHz I would suggest buying 1600MHz rated memory.

If you go to this page and then the "Memory Support List" tab, you can download a list of modules that have been tested to work. This list is by no means exhaustive, but it give you an idea what kind of voltages/speeds/timings work.
