Memory Free Software

Any people using software that free up the memory on your mac and which your using and is it any good.

As I notice there a few free ones and pay ones on the app store on the Mac.

I have 4GB of memory but been thinking upgrading to 8GB will I see a massive different in speed as I though free memory software may help to save me money..?

Memory management tools are a little pointless, if your machine is consuming too much, you either have too many processes running which you can sort yourself, or you have a memory leak (latter is quite unlikely).

For the sake of ~£35 for an extra 4GB it's not worth worrying about!

I have 8GB in my 2009 iMac FYI, and it helps a lot in terms of general day to day multi-tasking. Much snappier.

How do we know what process to close and to stop booting up with them?
