I have started to upgrade my PC, headline spec as follows:

i5-3570K 3.40GHz
GTX1660 SUPER (Just updated from GTX670 and very happy)
Z77-D3H
Corsair Vengeance Blue Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel

I could do with some advice in terms of updating memory as some have suggested this would be
a logical upgrade, I mainly use it for gaming. Would new memory or indeed 16MB be of use ?

Any suggestions of what to choose would be great.

Thanks

If you wanted to, you could look 2nd hand for 16GB (2x8GB) 2400MHz DDR3.

Biggest boost for you though would be to OC your CPU to 4GHz+, give that 1660S some breathing room.

Thanks - funny you should mention the CPU as just posted in the O/C forum to get some guidance there. I am novice in this area and don't want to smoke my PC.

In terms of memory (if I bother going there) I was offered a good deal on some Corsair Vengeance pro - but 1600MHz. Some have suggested I will not see much benefit difference between this and 2400MHz. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks.

Sandy/Ivy didn't see huge improvements with faster memory from what I remember, although there was still some benefit to minimum frames.

I would just slap in whichever is the cheapest 1600-2400mhz 2x8GB set you can find second hand, overclock your CPU and get something along the lines of an RX580 or 1660S. There's a deal at the moment on the Powercolor RX590 for £150 which is pretty damn good tbh.

There's still a little breathing room in your rig, I've done similar with a 3770K, and even at stock with HT off it performs decently in most games at 1080p with a RX580.

I've ran The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, and Disco Elysium at 60fps solid with a mixture of medium-high (mostly high) settings. I was sorely tempted to upgrade this year but I've decided to put it off until AMD launches its 4000 series chips.

Thanks so much, have started the upgrade journey by getting a GTX1660 SUPER (the plan is to use it if/when I start a new build).

Any advice on CPU O/C would be great - posted this earlier. I am a bit week in this area: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/i5-3570k-overclocking-help-required.18871961/
