I've decided to upgrade to 4gig but im having probs,i've got exactly the same memory (corsair xms2) but when i install all 4 gig my comp wont boot,it boots with 3 gig and i've tried the two sticks to make sure there wasn't a duffa,i'm running xp at the mo but am going to re-install vista, both 32-bit.
Also full full 3 gig registers in the bios but only 2.75gig registers in windows, any ideas?....THANKS:)

Up your northbridge voltage by 0.1v to boost it for running 4 sticks.

And try changing the memory remapping option in the BIOS if it's there. That should give you access to about 3.25gb in Windows.

increased the NB voltage from 1.26 to 1.36 and still no go,just installed vista with service pack 1 still no luck, can't see a memory remapping option?
machine just wont boot with 4 sticks:mad:

ok some success, increased the NB voltage as you suggested from 1.26 to 1.36 and also increased the mem voltage to 2.1,boots up and registers as 4 gig:D in the task manager though under performance it says total physical memory 2813,does that sound right?

At least explain to him guys... he obviously doesn't know about the 32bit/64bit os ram detection thingy (how technical..)

The upper memory limit of any 32bit opperating system is 4GB, which means, the max ammount of memory in your system that can be detected is 4GB (this includes gfx memory)

Thus, a 32 bit os such as yours will not detect more than 2.75GB

64bi opperating systems have a higher upper memory limit (sorry, but i do not know the limit..) but it's certainly above 8GB, and thus will detect all 4Gb of memory when installed.

Hope this helps.

Yeah i've read up on this so i knew i wouldn't get the full 4gig,i thought i would get around 3.2 gig with 32 bit OS but only got the 2.8 as you said, atleast i know its right now.I will upgrade to 64 bit eventually but not long bought my vista 32bit so the little misses will probably have something to say about me getting another OS yet a while:(.so does that mean there is absolutely no point in having all 4 dimms installed at the moment?

Got myself vista 64bit and now using all 4gig of my memory:Donly thing is my memory score has dropped to a score of 5,is this normal?also would my memory still be running in dual config mode?if not how can i get it to?
Thanks for any help guys.
