Hi new to o.c'ing bought some Geil pc2 8500 1066MHz cl-5-5-5-15 2GB x 2 kit Ultra low latency
question is when i installed it and ran cpu-z it tells me that it's pc2-6400 800MHz
could this be wrongly branded memory i have or am i missing something ?

you need to put those setting & volts in manualy for your ram to run at that speed.
cpu-z it tells me that it's pc2-6400 800MHz

my 8500 ram shows up as that as well :)

my pc dosent boot at over 800 MHz and i got memory volts at 2.3, could you show me a working example of how you have overcome this

What motherboard are you using, and can you post a scren shot of your memory tab in CPU-Z.

this may sound stupid i've just worked out how to take a screen shot but dont see how to attach to my post

Looking at the spec the board does not support PC8500 memory, max pc6400.

Assuming the board above is right!

Don't worry about the screen shot for the time being :)

Edit: If you want to add a picture to a post, make account with Photo bucket or Imageshack, upload the photo using the their website, once uploaded they will supply a code which you copy and paste to the forums.
