im looking for some advice on installing 6gb of ram on my ga-x58a-ud3r intel socket motherboard ,it currently runs 3x2gb corsair xms3 6gb ddr3 pc3-12800c9 1600mhz tri chanel ,ive purchased another set of these to go in the remaing 3 sockets are there any tips advice i need to install these ,and do the sockets have to be installed in any particular order ,

No, just install them in any order since you will be populating all channels anyway.

The only important thing to note when installing ram for the first time is making sure that DIMM slot 1 is being used (if you aren't filling all up). But this doesn't apply to you since you have 3 installed anyway.

Ok cheers Im not really sure what I can gain with 12 over 6 but I think my photo and video software will improve also running efex HDR pro which supposedly should benefit ,I also remember when running my 64gb ocz hard drive I could portion some of windows 7 operating to the memory this was to save space on the hard drive .? Although I now have upgraded. To 128 far more comfortable IMO ,so probably won't need to. I assume that the pooter must be off from mains do I need a anti static band or will holding the case with hand do .?

I have never used an anti static band before - Basically if you ground yourself properly before hand and don't move your feet when dealing with delicate components there is pretty much 0 chance of any ESD damage.

I always take the plug etc. out and turn the switch off at the back of the PSU before going inside the case.

If you take the plug out then the case won't be grounded by the way, I switch off the power at the wall and on the back of the PSU which is what you should do, so that the case still gets earthed. It also means if you are scared of causing static damage you can just attach an anti-static band to the case.
