Hey Guys would appreciate some help on the following,

Bought some RAM for my mates computer at Uni, as he was always complaining that his computer was running so slowly anyway.

So I bought some RAM from the 'bay, good seller rep 100% feedback etc.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=250046957875&rd=1&rd=1

Kingston 512 Mb DDR 266 RAM PC2100, it runs at the same speed at the RAM already in there, which is a Samsung 512 Mb DDR 266 PC2100. They both have the same number of Black memory chips on them 8 X 32 Mb's i think.

Both memory slots on the motherboard which is a Gigabyte 8siml NF work as the Samsung RAM can boot up with both of the slots. But the Kingston RAM is not picked up in either slot and when booting up with just that in it just beeps saying it can't detect any RAM.

Windows via my computer only picks up 512MB, BIOS also only registers 512MB installed, CPU-Z says that the slot with the Kingston in it is empty.

The computer is a Packard Bell, 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4, BIOS and Graphics drivers are majorily out of date.

Any help guys?

Will

Hi,

Yeah that is most likely it, I thought about it briefly when buying it but it slipped my mind.

Ah well...

Thanks,

Will
