at the bios/boot screen it displays DDR3 6gb 1066mhz (or 1086 ?! I am at work and can't check now)

any idea? should it display 1866mhz? any settings in bios?

how easy is to overclock the i7? say to 3.3-3.5... something easy to reach and with directions what to change in bios please? Noctua cpu fans (both + 2 case fans...Antec P180 case) are both using the ULNA adapters....

thank you

Your motherboard will set the memory at 1066 by default. You will need to manually change the settings to increase it's frequency.

With your: cooler, mobo, memory and cpu (D0) combination you should find it pretty easy to get a decent overclock as they're quality components. Plus the D0 is better suited to overclocking and your DDR3 15000 memory will also give you more flexibilty.

There are plenty of i7 overclocking guides on here, just search and you will find them.

Remember:
BCLK x CPU Multiplier = CPU Clock Speed
BCLK x Memory Multiplier = Memory Clock Speed

The D0 Stepping version of the i7 should easily reach the level that you are looking for (and more) and should be fairly straightforward to achieve but I suggest you have a read up on what you are doing beforehand.

I only set up in bios 1866 for memory from default 1066
why does it say its overclocked by 78%?

this is the memory bought

Sorry, i'm not totally sure what it is your asking but:

1902Mhz (2 x 951) is 78% greater than 1066Mhz which the monitoring software thinks is the default for your memory.

tried to o/c without any guides so not sure if I done it right
does the numbers look right?
why windows is reporting it at 3.10 and this program at 3,255 and 3,719 ... which one is it? what about voltage and temp, are they ok?

thanks

I'm not familiar with your HWM as i use CPU-Z - but i'm guessing that the 3720 value is your clocked overall speed and the 3255 is the current speed your cpu is running at after SpeedStep has kicked in. (reduces the multiplier when the sytsem is idle)

Your idle temps look fine - what are they like under load?

(You'll have to forgive my edits as i'm juggling my kids at the same time - and can only manage to keep 2 of them up in the air, at any one time, with one hand while i type with the other. ;))

Download this HWM - it will give you more info regarding your temps - link.

You may also want to download cpu-z from the same site.

Very, quick reply as i'm replying to another thread...

Your core temps look fine and are well within tolerance - but the 4 cores vary quite a bit in temp. (but looking at the min and max values they even out so it could just be that they're cooling down unevenly.)

What are the idle temps in CPUID HW?

Your system temps however are very warm - sit in the BIOS and check your temps in there after stress testing. (Have you hooked up the case fans and have you got the HSF orientated the right way?)
