Hi all

I have got 2x2GB Kingston HyperX 1066 and 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix 1066

The kingston was installed today.

Vista (32 bit) is recognising 4gb of it (i thought it only recognised 3gb)

I just checked in my BIOS and it is running at 800mhz apparently. how do i change it to 1066? i am not competent with BIOS settings and could not find a relevant option

overclock it to 1066mhz ?
i dont really know much about memory but thats what i did when i bought 1066mhz memory and it was showing 800mhz.

Cheers,

Just done that now :) although CPU-Z seems to be very wrong with things...

its claiming that my new, arrived today, kingston 1066 is 6400 hmmm.....

IIRC 1066 is not an officially recognised standard for memory - so 1066 memory will have a standard timing set for 800MHz (6400) which is what CPU-Z and the system will see by default and you have to manually configure it for the faster timings - bit bad for the average consumer tho.

You will still see 6400 in CPU-Z even when you've manually entered the frequency/timings in the BIOS.

ok, cheers.

How do i manually enter the timings?

I did't see anything like that in the 'MB Intelligent Tweaker' in the BIOS

Ctrl+F1 in the main BIOS screen on gigabyte boards will "unlock" advanced options - then go back into the tweaking section and new entries for stuff like that should appear.
