Memory not being read at proper speed

Hi

Just built a new PC.
I used:-
Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red
Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

The memory came free with the motherboard (Thank you overclockers)

The motherboard defaults reads the memory at 1600Mhz with timings as 11 - 11 - 11 -28
The memory is actually 2133MHZ with timings 11 - 12 - 11 - 31.

So I entered bios MIT -> advanced memory settings -> Channel A/B memory sub timings set the memory timing mode to manual and entered 11 -12 -11 -31. The two defaults stay the same 11-11-11-28 and where it said auto it now has my timings. BUT - it doesn't seem to be applying them. The motherboard still reads and runs memory at 1600mhz.

I'm obviously missing some step - but I've spent hours on this and I have no idea what I am doing wrong

I would really appreciate some help please

You would need to change the memory multiplier or see if you can find the XMP option - I will need to check the manual to see what section they are in

As above set xmp profile.

My ram for some reason is read by windows task manager as 1600mhz but everything else like 3dmark shows it at 2133...
