Hello,
I am building a new computer and eventually want 2g of ram. At the moment i can only afford 1gig, and i am trying to find out loses in current ram performance in certain instances.
A)If 2x512ram, dual channel, is 100%, what is 1x1gig in 1 slot of dual channel board.
i realise that paired ram are meant to be identical, and that using 2 non-paired ram forces both to run at the lower stick.
B)What would be the performance -% of using 2 non-paired 1gig sticks (same brand/specs etc) over a pair? is it 2-5%?
(I dont know wether to get2x512 now, then get 2x1gig later, or to get 1x1gig now, and the same later).
I will have an AMD san diego 3700+, asus dual channel mb, and will be using corsair value ram (There is a good website comparing corsair value ram to top of the range corsair ram, and in games, the increase is 1-5 fps).
regards,
perplex
